Overview

The history of Dong Valley, which is located in the Anjaw District, can be traced back to British India. This location was a part of the Lakhimpur district in 1914. The British established the northeast border tract to oversee the three areas: the centre and eastern sections, as well as the Lakhimpur Frontier Tract on the western side. Following this, the Dibang valley was established as a distinct sub-division in 1956, with an Additional Political Officer in charge. After that, in June 1980, it was divided into two distinct districts: Lohit District and Dibang Valley District.
