This secluded valley, located 29 kilometres from China's border, is one of India's most beautiful and unspoiled locations. The indigenous Memba tribes, who live in tiny wooden homes beside their millet and buckwheat fields, add to the attractiveness of the area. Itinerary
On arrival at Dibrugarh one of our representatives will be there to meet and welcome you. Get a brief discussion of the tour and we move towards Aalo (1020 ft), Arunachal Pradesh. Aalo or Along is the hills of the Galo & Apatani tribe. On the way we will cross Pasighat, another beautiful town
in Arunachal Pradesh blessed with stunning landscapes. We will stop for a few minutes to catch a glimpse of the mighty Siang river where you will see turquoise colored water. Later, reach Aalo and check in at the homestay. Enjoy a bonfire evening & take leisure. Overnight in Aalo.
Today after breakfast we will enroute our journey towards Mechuka also popularly known as Menchukha- The Forbidden Valley of Arunachal Pradesh. Mechuka is a mesmerizing valley in the Himalayan foothills, situated at an elevation of 6000 ft above the sea level. The Mechuka valley became accessible by roads only in 2003 as previously it was known only for its strategic military landing Airstrip during the 1962 Indo-China War. The river Yargyapchu flows through this beautiful valley. In local language the word Menchukha literally means the medicinal waters of snow where MEN means MEDICINE, CHU means WATER and KHA means SNOW. Home to the Memba, Ramo, Bokar, Lingbo and Ta Gin tribes of Arunachal Pradesh, Mechuka town is situated only 29 kms away from Indo Tibetan border and till 1959 Mechuka was only a part of Tibet. We will reach Mechuka in the evening hours. Check in at the homestay and take a rest. Later enjoy the night with a bonfire. Overnight in Mechuka.
Wake up to sunrise, feel the soft chilling winds and feast your eyes with the breathtaking views of the valley through the window. Freshen up and a lip smacking breakfast will be ready on the table. Post meal, today we will trek towards Mechuka La. It is a point from where you can view the whole of Mechuka Valley. On the way we will get a view of the beautiful Yargyapchu river flowing through the valley and get to walk across the famous Hanging bridges in the valley. Upon reaching the top, enjoy the majestic view of the valley, wander around with your empty thoughts or just sit and relax while admiring the pure beauty of this paradise.
In the afternoon we will return to the homestay. Evenings will be chilly so we will stay indoors and enjoy the bonfire night with some chai and snacks. Interact with the locals where you will be enlightened with some interesting stories of Mechuka and its history. Overnight in Mechuka.
Today after breakfast, we will explore places in Mechuka. First, visit the 400 year old Buddhist monastery made entirely out of wood and has a devine old charm to it. There are some antique stone inscriptions stored inside. The monastery is believed to be older than the famous Tawang
monastery. Later, visit places like the Yarlung camp(optional)- The last army checkpoint near the MacMohan line where civilians are allowed. Drive more and visit the Gurudwara “Guru ka Langar” where Guru Nanak Dev meditated almost 400 years ago during his journey to Tibet. On the way visit Taposthan where Guru Nanak Dev stayed for more than 6 months and then visit Thongkor La viewpoint, one of the scenic places in Mechuka. Before evening we will return to our cozy homestay and chillax. Enjoy a bonfire and Overnight in Mechuka.
Today is our last day in Mechuka. Post breakfast we will bid goodbye to everyone and start our journey back to Aalo. On the way we will visit Dorjeeling village which is just 5 km away from Mechuka town. Dorjeeling is a picturesque village with little wooden houses, farms and a big Buddha statue. It's not a famous spot for tourists but a quaint village where one can sit down and appreciate the surroundings. Later, move towards Aalo. On the way, stop for a few moments to enjoy the view of the Siko Dido waterfall near Tato. Reach Aalo and check in at the homestay. Overnight in Aalo.
Wake up early, post breakfast today we will head back to Dibrugarh through the same Pasighat route. On the way we will cross many scenic locations and make sure you keep your cameras handy. We will halt for a few minutes near the Bodak plains where you can capture the panoramic view of the mighty Siang river. Later, if time permits we will visit a hidden waterfall called Sirki Waterfall which is located 12 km from Pasighat town. Reach Dibrugarh drop to the final location.
