Overview

The trek through Majuli and Molai Forest in Assam's heartland is exciting. Molai Forest is India's only man-made forest. The forest was established by Jadav Payeng, who has been dubbed "India's Forest Man" and has received several honors, including the Padma Bhushan. Also visit Majuli, the world's biggest riverine island. Join us for Heartland Assam and enjoy riding, birding, wildlife, river crossings, camping, and forest trekking. Enjoy the quiet of nature while staying in well-appointed riverfront tents. You may also go fishing in the Brahmaputra if you have the time.

Itinerary

Take a walk down the beach and watch the sunset; if you're lucky, you could witness flocks of birds flying back to their nests. Sit around the bonfire later in the evening and listen to some good old-fashioned camping music. Enjoy our crew's meal and have a good night's sleep in preparation for a busy day ahead.

Get up early, eat breakfast, and get moving with our knowledgeable guide and team. Molai woodland is reached after a 30-minute boat voyage. Begin your journey by landing on the beach. On foot, the journey takes 2 hours. Catch birds and animals such as wild buffaloes and deer along the way. You could even glimpse the fabled one-horned rhinoceros if you're lucky. You will also get the opportunity to meet Jadav Payeng, the forest's founder, and learn about his afforestation techniques throughout the hike. Interact with the people of a Mising tribal community and learn about their culture. Cross the river to camp once you've finished the hike. On your journey back, take in the breathtaking sunset that Mohian Cove has to offer.
